Start Saving, Mr. Anderson

That's right...in case you haven't heard yet, we got the news just before we left for vacation that we now not only have to save for college, but also a wedding. We are having a GIRL! I must admit, the news took me a bit by surprise - both considering my family generation tendencies (I know this means nothing), as well as the fact that EVERYONE I know is having (or has had) girls. I was totally convinced that we were having a boy. However, having an excuse to add more pink to my life is never a bad thing. :) We are both THRILLED...and can't wait to meet her!

Below is a pic of me (last week) at 23 weeks. Time is absolutely flying in this pregnancy. I know that it will only continue to go faster as summer arrives and our list of things to do continues to grow.

We had an absolutely wonderful vacation (or "Babymoon," as some are referring to it). The wedding was beautiful, our time with our friends was both meaningful and fun, and our time together and away from "normal" life was much needed and very refreshing. We both soaked it all in as much as we could...knowing that it will be a very long time before something like this happens again...

Who is this person, and what has she done with my piles??

Sometimes people say that men experience "sympathy" symptoms...gaining sympathy weight, feeling sympathy sickness, etc. However, I think that I may be experiencing the reverse...I am turning into my husband!!

Recently my Pregnancy Brain has disappeared along with my entire Type B personality, and I suddenly don't know who I am anymore! Some call it Nesting, and if that's truly the case, then Gary has 4.5 more months of organized bliss! It's true. I know it's hard to believe, but recently I have been not only making lists, but actually accomplishing things on them! My desk AND the freelancer's desk at work are completely clean. It's driving me crazy that the entire contents of our kitchen cabinets is collected on the dining room table to escape the Crazy Ants. Laundry in the dryer must be folded, clean dishes in the sink barely have time to dry, etc. The list goes on and on.

Now there are some of you who may say, "What's the big deal? You're SUPPOSED to keep your desk clean." Well...you must not know me. :) I will take the small victories. And hopefully establish some great habits over the duration of my pregnancy.

Here's to productivity!

Also on a pregnancy-related note, I must say that feeling the baby move is one of my favorite parts of the day. I don't know how to describe it, but it's just so awesome to feel it - it's like the baby's saying, "Hey Mom! I'm down here! Don't forget about me!" The movements are still very sporadic, but Gary was finally able to feel it this week for the first time...so cool. We just can't WAIT to meet this little person!

Double-Take

There are certain moments in life that I wish I could just freeze in time. It's not very often that Gary and I feel encouraged about our house. It's like the little black cloud above our heads. However, last night we pulled up to the house after a trip to the park and just sat at the curb for a few minutes. It helped that Gary had just finished laying down the new mulch, the grass was freshly cut and the sun was going down casting the perfect amount of light in the sky, but it was definitely one of those Moments. I took a picture because I want to remember it next time I feel like crying because the ants invaded the kitchen for the 14th time.

I can't believe this is the same house that we bought two years ago.

A colleague sent me this cartoon this morning. I couldn't describe my job better.

Pillow Talk

"I can't believe we're going to be PARENTS."

"Yeah. (pause) Hahahaha."

"What's so funny?"

"You were daydreaming about the baby, weren't you?"

"Yes."

"I was daydreaming about cycling."

It's Hammer Time

Ah, the perils of wedding rental attire...they asked him for his measurements, why??

Mawwige...

Three years and eight months ago Gary and I sat on the beach on our honeymoon and talked about how we couldn't wait to go to a wedding now that we were on the other side of things. We had been to at least 10 in the year preceding our wedding, and ironically have not been to ONE since we were married!

This weekend happily broke that streak as we celebrated with our friends Matt and Jessica. It was a wonderful weekend and a beautiful wedding. Refreshingly good times with friends from far away, too. Our house was full...and we had a blast.

Can't wait for the other upcoming weddings this year...here are a few pics from the wedding...

The NEXT happy couple! Less than a month to go!

(Gary told me he didn't want to be documented in this attire - see following post - but it's been so long since we've had a picture of us, I couldn't pass up the opportunity!)
